Energy-efficient, cost-optimized products continue to drive widespread adoption

Sunnyvale, Calif., February 3, 2010 – Bridgelux Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of integrated, solid-state lighting solutions, today unveiled three new LED array product families that deliver high-quality, energy-efficient light sources cost-optimized for the burgeoning solid-state lighting market. These new products are designed to replace incandescent, halogen, high intensity discharge (HID) and compact fluorescent lighting. The low power consumption, long lifetime, and high quality light of the Bridgelux LED Arrays deliver ideal options for indoor and outdoor applications ranging from retrofit light bulbs to street and wide area lighting. Bridgelux believes these products will help drive transformation of the $40 billion global lighting industry into a $100 billion market opportunity.

“With a broad range of solid-state light sources delivering performance and value to virtually all industry market segments, Bridgelux is well-positioned to help our customers meet all of their design application needs within the context of increasingly stringent global regulatory requirements,” said Jason Posselt, Bridgelux vice president of marketing. “These new products reflect Bridgelux’s core strength – the ability to reduce design complexity and simplify lighting system development and integration, while aggressively driving down the cost of solid-state lighting to enable widespread adoption.”

The Bridgelux LED Array product portfolio now features light output performance that ranges from 240 to 4500 operational or “hot” lumens (lumens under normal operating conditions), providing a full breadth of LED solutions to replace a broad range of high-volume conventional light sources. The new products and their features are summarized below.

The Bridgelux ES Array Series enables lamp and luminaire manufacturers to cost-effectively meet rapidly increasing global regulatory standards for general lighting such as Energy Star and Title 24 in the United States, Part L in the United Kingdom and others. The series delivers between 400 and 2000 “hot” lumens in a compact high flux density light source, enabling the replacement of incandescent, halogen and fluorescent conventional light sources. These new arrays are 30-60% more energy-efficient than previous product generations while dramatically reducing the price per lumen.

The Bridgelux RS Array Series delivers high light output for applications including retail, street, wide area, high bay, and commercial lighting, replacing conventional light sources such as 50-70-Watt metal halide (HID) and high wattage compact fluorescent (CFL) lamps. These arrays produce between 3100 and 4500 “hot” lumens, enabling clean and uniform lighting effects without pixilation and excellent beam control for precision lighting. In retail lighting installations, these arrays have delivered a return on investment of less than two years while delivering the high quality of light proven to positively influence product turnover and customer experience in this environment.

The Bridgelux LS Array Series is a new set of miniaturized LED arrays that enable both diffuse and directional light sources for applications including landscape lighting, home luminaires, white goods and retrofit light bulbs. Delivering between 240 and 360 lumens, these products are ideal replacement options for low wattage halogen, incandescent and CFL lamps.

Bridgelux LED arrays are RoHS compliant. In addition, Bridgelux is in the process of securing UL recognition for its entire range of LED array products to further simplify the design and customer acceptance process. Please visit Bridgelux for technical details regarding each product.

Recognition Simplifies UL Certification for Bridgelux Customers, Accelerating Introduction of New LED Lighting Products

Livermore, Calif., June 15, 2010 – Bridgelux Inc., a leading developer and manufacturer of LED lighting technologies and solutions today announced that the company has earned Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Recognition for its entire portfolio of LED Array light sources, which includes the LS, ES and award-winning RS products. This certification will accelerate the introduction of new LED lighting products by making it possible to obtain UL Listed status for new lamps and luminaires built with Bridgelux’s Arrays without requiring a full in-system LED component evaluation.

“Underwriters Laboratories is very pleased that Bridgelux chose to work with us for the certification of their LED Arrays,” said Doug Lockard, UL Lighting Business Manager. “Solid-state light sources are a critical new technology that is rapidly transforming the lighting industry. UL’s Component Certification program helps to reduce the cost of end-product certification and speed the time to market for lamp and luminaire manufacturers by eliminating redundant testing of commercially available LED light sources. This program allows lighting manufacturers to identify products that are pre-approved to comply with safety requirements in finished lighting systems, accelerating the UL Listing process.”

Bridgelux offers the industry’s widest range of solid-state light sources, delivering 240 to 4500 “hot” lumens across a broad range of color temperatures. This expansive portfolio of UL-recognized arrays provides Bridgelux customers with wide-ranging options as they develop high quality replacement lamps and luminaires for a market rapidly transitioning to energy efficient lighting.

“A significant number of LED lamp and luminaire manufacturers are seeking UL Listing in order to successfully sell their products into the U.S. market,” said Jason Posselt, Bridgelux vice president of marketing. “By using Bridgelux Arrays, our customers can confidently design and manufacture with independent direction and support from UL and dramatically shorten the approval cycle.”

The Bridgelux ES, LS, and RS Arrays can now be found in UL’s Online Certifications Directory. These arrays are compliant with UL 8750, the standard for safety of light emitting diode (LED) equipment for use in lighting products. More information can be found on the UL Lighting Standards webpage.
