JOB SUMMARY
The Principal scientist is responsible for identifying and developing key new technologies and technology roadmaps at L0/L1/L2/L3 levels within R&D organization. Come up with new ideas, define and lead benchmarking, path finding efforts, and feasibility studies. Working close with product development, quality, NPI, and marketing functions to enable sustainable technology roadmap, aligned with product roadmap and company strategy. Relentlessly push the boundaries of LED technologies and performance. The candidate must have deep knowledge of LED technology from LED die level through the system level, and be an expert in all key aspects of cross-functional optimization of LED-based products. Proven track record and experience in LED area in R&D environment is a must.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technology path finding and feasibility study at L0/L1/L2/L3 level
- Enabling continuous improvements in efficacy, lumen output and performance through module improvements and cross-functional optimization
- Working closely with Product Development, Quality, NPI and Marketing to enable and deliver sustainable technology roadmap
- Work with external parties to identify, analyze, and benchmark new technology modules/platforms and determine fit with company’s internal roadmap
- Enabling new applications via new technology development
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- PhD in Material Science, Electrical Engineering or related field with minimum of 5 years of experience in LED R&D, or MS in Material Science, Electrical Engineering or related field with minimum of 10 years experience in LED R&D
- Deep understanding of physics of LED devices and proficiency in state of the art technologies and trends
- Expert with proven track record in L0 through L3 technologies and cross-functional optimization
- Strong track record of delivering new technologies and pushing the performance boundaries
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and presentation skills
- Ability to motivate and deliver results while working with other teams (PD, NPI, marketing)
- Modeling and simulation skills
