JOB SUMMARY
The successful candidate will work with a cross-functional team to design and develop next generation LED products. The ideal candidate will be able to bring expertise in the LED or semiconductor packaging field, provide innovative solutions for high brightness LED systems, while able to maintain a keen sense of manufacturability and cost. The candidate will work with local and international development teams to design new products and transfer them to manufacturing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Refine existing package designs to improve cost, performance and/or reliability.
- Design and develop next generation LED packaging structures that integrate advanced optical, thermal, mechanical designs while being compatible with high volume manufacturing and achieving low cost.
- Design and coordinate carefully controlled experiments that can clearly demonstrate even small gains in product performance.
- Think broadly and be able to quantitatively evaluate tradeoffs between performance and oter metrics such as cost or manufacturing yield.
- Need to communicate with external industry experts and vendors to identify technical trends and leverage external expertise.
- Drive deliverables and deadlines with predictable timeline.
- Document inventions to create intellectual property.
- Be versatile and willing to support other job junctions as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- BS with 5+ years of industry experience or advanced degrees with 3+ years industry experience
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
- Expertise in statistical analysis and design of experiments
- Familiarity with typical LED backend packaging processes and materials, including flip chip
- Knowledge in high power LED epi / chip technology is strong plus.
- Familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks etc.) and thermal/mechanical analysis is a plus.
- High level of dedication and commitment to produce results.
- Strong team work and communication skills. Mandarin language a plus
