NPI Substrate Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Bridgelux is seeking a bright, articulate, team player and technically competent NPI Substrate Engineer – stationed in Asia servicing multiple suppliers. This position is responsible for working closely with the Livermore engineering and Product Development teams to qualify substrate suppliers, develop new products or meet new requirements, and to qualify existing suppliers for new programs. The individual needs to be self-motivated, results driven, good at team work/communication, being able to own projects and lead all the way to successful delivery

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engineer to be available to travel to substrate suppliers in support of all related activities
  • Engineer shall be responsible for characterization of existing and developing substrates in order to meet new product requirements
  • Engineer shall identify issues to BLX-US team and work collaboratively with supplier to resolve
  • Engineer shall be responsible for understanding and reviewing all supplier process changes, work instructions and process control data. Resolution of Supplier manufacturing/ process/quality issues and associated corrective actions
  • Engineer shall drive continuous improvement activities with supplier engineering teams using PFMEA’s & FMEA’, control plan and Kaizen activities
  • Engineer shall assist in the selection of new suppliers and support buyers to obtain the best value components in relation to cost, delivery and quality
  • Engineer shall conduct Six Sigma process optimization projects with suppliers to improve process yields and capability
  • Engineer must have ability to make decisions for BLX as issues arise at supplier site
  • Verify accuracy of all documents between internal and suppliers.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 5 years of experience in MCPCB, AlN, QFN processing including etching, plating, solder mask materials, lamination, screen printing, cleaning, stamping, molding and machining.

• Prefer minimum 3 years of experience in LED packaging.

• Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent.

• Ability to easily travel within Asia and to USA with appropriate visa applications.

• MS Office, CAD software, Statistical analysis software (JMP or Minitab) proficient.

• Excellent English & Chinese reading, writing & speaking skills.

• Other languages such as Korean would be considered a plus.

• Working knowledge of SPC and Six Sigma methodologies.

• High level of dedication and team player.
