Sr. Electrical Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

As a Sr. Electrical Engineer, you will be a vital part of our fast growing company. You will be a key member of our Smart Lighting development team based in our San Francisco office and will report to the Engineering Director of Smart Lighting.

The ideal candidate will be a confident individual contributor and an outstanding team player with proven track record on having taken part in the development of embedded products from concept to mass production. In this position, the successful candidate will work closely with the marketing, test, quality, reliability and production teams to coordinate and carry on activities related to the products under development. The candidate will also interact and drive activities with contract manufacturers in the US an overseas. Minimal travel is expected but required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design electronics circuits that incorporate discretes, MCUs, LED Drivers, Power Supplies and Communication Interfaces from concept to mass production.
  • Work closely with Quality, Reliability, Production and Marketing to make sure products being developed meet their requirements.
  • Work with external parties (in the US and abroad) during the different development phases to organize and drive tasks to completion.
  • Generate weekly reports on tasks accomplished the previous week and activities to be accomplished during the following week. Report should identify risks and paths for their resolution.
  • Develop high level guidelines for the testing and characterization of the circuits under development. This includes activities from the Alpha phase all the way to the manufacturing line.
  • Work with the Test team to collect, organize, analyze, and report product performance data.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • BS or Masters in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in design, simulation and verification of power and mixed signal discrete and IC based electronic designs.
  • Strong understanding of Power Supply topologies and the different factors surrounding their design (Power Factor, Ripple, Heat Dissipation, Efficiency, etc).
  • Work experience with LED Driver circuits (including design, test and characterization) a strong plus.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance including UL, cUL, CE, IEC.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout experience. Working knowledge of Altium Designer is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable with utilizing oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, soldering stations, power supplies and other test equipment for development, troubleshooting and characterization of electronic circuits.
  • Experience designing communication interfaces for the lighting controls industry (DALI, DMX, BACnet, ZigBee, etc) is a plus.
  • Experience designing products with RF antennas (802.15.4, Bluetooth, etc) is a plus.
