Field Applications Engineer

JOB SUMMARY
Works directly with Bridgelux customers predominately in mainland China, FAEs and sales to provide technical support, training and guidance for the proper selection and application of Bridgelux LED arrays. The successful candidate will be “hands-on” in all aspects of power LED applications, including a practical understanding of optical, electrical, thermal and regulatory requirements for successful use of LED arrays in customer designed products as well as prototyping, troubleshooting, testing and strong communication and presentation skills. This position is also responsible to assist in supporting Bridgelux products by writing application notes and defining demo/evaluation system requirements. This is a field based position that will require up to 50% travel to customer locations and Bridgelux HQ in Livermore, CA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible to assist Bridgelux sales in identifying, prioritizing and securing “design in” opportunities.
• Work directly with customers to answer technical questions, assist in design-in and qualification efforts, resolve performance or quality issues and act as a liaison between the factory and customer to drive issues to closure.
• Provide customer feedback to marketing and development teams regarding test methodology, quality expectations and competitive information.
• Define and author application notes for LED array application and system design, product reliability and complimentary infrastructure components.
• Develop training material and conduct technical seminars on site for key customers or to a broad audience.
• Consult on data sheet creation.
• Develop and mange field applications lab resources for customer system evaluation and testing.
• Assist in defining and developing customer ready evaluation/demo kits.
• Identify and work with ecosystem partners to determine suitability of present products for use and to ensure optimal alignment of future product roadmaps.
• Engage with standards and regulatory bodies related to solid state lighting.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics, Masters Degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience as an Applications or Design Engineer, preferably in the LED, semiconductor applications or power supply industry.
• Demonstrated ability to use electronic, optical, and thermal test equipment and knowledge of appropriate prototyping and testing techniques for power electronic systems.
• Attention to detail and quality focused.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated project planning and management experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with a positive attitude.
• Ability to write and speak Mandarin required, Shanghainese, Cantonese and English highly desired.
• Ability to travel as needed.
