Epi Characterization Engineer

JOB SUMMARY
This position is part of the epi team for the development of MOCVD epitaxial process for GaN LED products with responsibilities in metrology, process improvement & control and pilot line production.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Primary owner for existing epi characterization lab.
• Support staffing and quick diagnostic turn for 24x7 epi operations.
• Organize lab for efficient workflow, maintain tooling calibrations, and disposition epi inventory.
• Provide training to staff and operations on equipment.
• Coordinate and schedule and supply hands-on support to routine maintenance operations.
• Develop new or alternate characterization techniques to improve epi operation feedback.
• Propose, lead and complete technical projects for yield and quality improvement.
• Work with tool vendors on joint development projects to improve epi level characterization capabilities.
• Identify, purchase, and qualify new characterization tools.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
• MS degree or PhD in Electrical, Material Science, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Solid background in compound semiconductor MOCVD crystal growth & device physics, and material characterization.
• Working knowledge of LED characterization equipment: XRD, AFM, PL, Reflectance, Surface scatterometry.
• Familiar with statistical process control methodologies.
